University Archive for the Technische Universität Braunschweig

About the University Archive
The TU Braunschweig has had its own archive since 1978. In 1997, the archive became a division of the University Library Braunschweig. The archive has the responsibiliy of preserving important documents from all universities' departements and making them available for use (according to the archive regulations of the TU Braunschweig). Thus, documents are made available for scientific research, the interested public and future generations. An advisory board is involved in steering the archive's projects.

The University Archive provides information about the history of the TU Braunschweig and predecessor institutions (since 1745). For example, it collects information about people who have taught, conducted research or studied in Braunschweig. Furthermore, archived documents about the teacher training college and its predecessor institution (1937-1978) and about societies and associations that are closely connected with the TU Braunschweig are provided.

Currently, 900 linear meters of archive documents are stored. Depending on the reporting time, the amount of collected material is different. The focus mainly lies on the 20th century.

Further information about the University Archive and about the history of the TU Braunschweig is provided on the German website.
