Open Access

Open Access
Open access (OA) as defined in the Berlin Declaration, which was signed by the TU Braunschweig on 13th May 2015 means free, unrestricted and permanent access to scientific information while copyright is fully guaranteed. In addition, the Senate of the TU Braunschweig adopted Guidelines to Open Access Publishing at TU Braunschweig (only in German) on 18th March 2015.

Open Access publications are usually published in the following ways:

Golden Way
The first publication takes place in an Open Access Journal or Open Access Book. Processing charges for articles (APCs) or book contributions (BPCs) are often required from publishers. Researchers at the TU Braunschweig can apply for a refund of Article Processing Charges (APCs). A publication fund funded by the DFG is available for this purpose.

Green Way
An article that has already been published in a journal can also be published on an institutional or subject-specific repository. The majority of publishers allow this so-called secondary publication, partly under conditions described in detail in the SHERPA/RoMEO list. The Digital Library is the official repository of TU Braunschweig and provides all requirements for a second publication.
